How to choose solenoid valves or control valves

Solenoid valves & control valves are usually used as a switch (automation control)
and control the flow in engineering, you can select the one that matches your design:
Price: A solenoid valve uses an electromagnetic solenoid to control the valve open and close,
so the design is coil with valve body together, the price may be less expensive,
and the installation space will be smaller, whereas control valves can be different kinds of valves
(butterfly valves, ball valves, globe valves, gate valves…etc.)
that more complex and capable of precise flow control, so the price may be higher.

Installation:
A solenoid valve can be connected to power supply directly and requests small space.
But a control valve must connect power and wiring with different functions, also, requests larger space.
Functions: Solenoid valves are fast-acting, making them ideal for applications where rapid opening
or closing is necessary. Control valves can adjust the flow continuously, not just in an on/off manner.
They can vary the flow from fully closed to fully open or anywhere in between, providing precise control over the process.
Moreover, there are different control methods to match different design.

Usage: Solenoid valves are used in applications where the fluid flow needs to be started or stopped quickly.
Control valves are used in applications where precise regulation of flow, pressure, temperature, or level is required.

Summary:
• Use a solenoid valve for simple, on/off control where cost, size, and rapid operation are key factors.
• Use a control valve for applications requiring precise modulation and integration into complex systems.
• Sometimes, you can use them together.
